American Shorthair

History
 
American Shorthair (ASH) is a descendant / development of the European races Shorthair and British Shorthair. History & development of ASH began in 1620, when the first domestic cats arrived in the Americas. The cat was taken by the predecessors of the European continent, climb aboard the Mayflower, to create a new colony in America. The first colonization began in the northern United States. Similarly, ASH, the first development came from the American climate of northern hard. ASH adapted well and gradually follow until the spread of human development throughout the United States.
This race was originally known as Shorthair, then popularly known as the Domestic Shorthair in the 60′s. In 1966 the name was changed to the American Shorthair.
Even a brown tabby ASH offered at a price of U.S. $ 2500 on a second cat contest held in Madison Square Garden, in the year 1896.

Characteristic
ASH is the cat’s body size to large feet and strong claws. Snout shaped like a box, the entire body covered with thick short hair, solid and somewhat stiff. Serves to protect the body from cold and damp weather. These feathers thicken in the winter and fall in the spring.
